Title: Plasterboard Post by Sandy on Jul 6th, 2010, 1:34pm Hi all, On looking through Wickes' website to gauge the price of plasterboard sheets, I was met by almost identical (to the untrained eye) images of similar products, but different names. I was only looking for plain old simple 8' x 4' sheets of plasterboard, but came across materials called Wallboard and Baseboard. The images look the same, the thicknesses of the 8' x 4' sheets are the same and the descriptions underneath each item are almost the same. I'm only looking for maybe 4 or 5 sheets to re-board a stud wall after removing the existing boards to insulate behind them. Please can someone elaborate on what the different sheets are and where you would use them over the others? thanks. Sandy. |
Title: Re: Plasterboard Post by Sandy on Jul 6th, 2010, 8:33pm Sorry, it's not the sizes I'm confused at. It's the materials/names that I'm unsure of. Is the difference between Wallboard, Baseboard and Plasterboard simply that they are different sizes? Other than that they are they made of the same thing and do the same job, just in a different part of a wall/partition? Or maybe I am confused. Are different sized boards referred to as different things? |
Title: Re: Plasterboard Post by TIMBA-WOLF on Jul 6th, 2010, 10:20pm contrary to wickes website, base board is usually grey both sides, and not supplied with one white/ivory paintable /finished side.... where as the wall board is supplied with a "Finished" side, which can just be scrimmed, jointed(mudded) and finished without skim plastering... |
