Hi all,

Basic question, but or the life of me I cannot find the answer on the T'Interweb.

I have some holes left behind in a standard/common red housebrick left behind after some screws and plugs were removed. I've seen a reddish type of filler to seal these type of holes up on other properties (pretty anal, I acknowledge) for aesthetic reasons, to stop bugs getting in and to ensure water/moisture doesn't have a chance of seeping in.

What is the filler called that I might have seen? Where to get it? I guess it comes in a tube like mastic or silicone. Or is it a dye added to cement?

I would probably buy the smallest bag of white cement I could find, then get a matching red brick and scrap, file , drill etc so I had a quantity of red brick dust to mix about 3-1 with the cement. perhaps make a sample batch first. then you need to make something up to squeeze it in the holes after you puffed the dust out. Ps drill is best.

I do this with Bath stone although you can buy that ready powered with white cement.

I've done exactly the same, although just mixed with a white no more nails ;D

Or if you didn't want the fag of grinding brick dust, choose a rare earth pigment (or two) from Axminster.
