I need a replacement double glazed window for my kitchen but the opening will need to be reduced by 1 course of brick in the process.
Would a window fitter do both jobs or should I employ a builder or would I need to get both trades involved?

Relatively, it's quite a big job to reduce the width of a window, so firstly do you need to do it?

If you do it's a job for a builder, he can get a window made and then it's all bricking and plastering.

It's not the width that is being reduced just the height. Currently the bottom of the cill inside the kitchen is 880mm above floor level so I can't get any kitchen units underneath. An extra course of brick would raise it to 955mm.

Have found a window fitter who often works with a builder and between the two of them I'm hoping to get a price to carry out the work.

That's a much smaller job than reducing the width and will make fitting the kitchen easier. We fitted a kitchen in a new build and they had fitted the window below the worktop height, architects!
