Title: taps and double check valves
Post by wozzy on Nov 7th, 2016, 9:31am

been doing a little bit of replacing sink and taps at home just want to make sure im doing it right.

When installing a mixer taps do you need a double check valve? Ive read the instructions and theres no mention of it just to comply with local water regulations ect.

Ive done some googling and there is plenty of threads about it but they are all from years ago and it seems there was no definitive answers.

Thanks.

Yes you do, unless they are inbuilt or the water mixes in the spout and not the body.

Rough guide better quality usually comply with the regs

If hot and cold come from the same storage take you can get away with it, high pressure cold v low pressure hot as above

ok I have a combi so does that make it easier?

Will look through the instructions to see if it says about the spout or the body.

Thanks

Just as well to stick a singles check valve on them they are as cheap as chips anyway.

Presumably if you have your own water supply then all this check-valve stuff is irrelevant - from a regs perspective ?

Good links, thanks.  The answer is 'No'  - you don't have to worry about check valves etc.
