Title: Leaking vented cylinder
Post by Natedog on Jan 5th, 2017, 11:23am

Hey guys, just a quick one.  My vented cylinder has sprung a leak.  Looks to be just a small pinhole in the base of it.  I know I could get the hole soldered/brazed but it's only a cheapy wickes cylinder, so I'm gonna swap it for a decent one.  Its a nice easy 18/36 so not going to be too horrific cost wise, but should I go for a copper or a stainless one?  I wasn't aware that you could get stainless vented cylinders until now!

The slight leak became rather more effective, so I have gone with copper as that's what I could get off the shelf today :-/

Wondering if a stainless one might actually be more suitable for here, as this is the 2nd time I've replaced the cylinder since I've been here (11 years)

Is your water from a bore hole or similar?

Nope, we're on mains water (thames water area) but it is *very* hard - descaling the kettle and shower head is a weekly job

That's because it's been recycled so many times  ;D

The amount they charge us, you'd think it was fresh unicorn tears
