Hi,

I'd like to run a new hot water pipe from my new combi boiler to the bathroom. The hot water pipes currently run half way around the county before they get to the bathroom and I'm wasting about 2 sinks of water before it gets hot enough to have a wash.

The shortest route follows the line of a central heating pipe run and I was thinking of reaming out the existing central heating joist holes and sitting the hot water pipes on top of the central heating pipes. This will reduce the time for at least warm water to get to the bathroom and also cut back on wasting water.

Can I ream out the holes to accept the hot water pipe as long as I stay withing the 25% max diameter rule?

I would have thought it would be very difficult to ream out the holes without the risk of puncturing the existing pipes, why not just drill another hole a few inches away?
