Title: Hall light issue
Post by stewasb on Feb 10th, 2017, 3:03pm

Hi I have a hall light operated by 2 switches now i can turn the light on and off with either switch but if i turn the light on at one end i cant turn it off at the other end only with the original switch but also there are 3 switch wires connected to the one switch as it has a switch connected for the smoke and heat alarm to test it im assuming in the hallway its driving me crazy not being able to switch on and off at either end what has been mixed up wire wise.
com has a blue wire with brown sheath in it
l1 has brown wire plus black wire with brown sheath on it
l2 has brown wire plus grey wire with brown sheath on it

If you look at the first pic, the blue is the wrong place.

In your wall box there are two sheathed cables, one containing two cores, one containing three.

In the two core, the brown should be in L1, the blue in L2.
In the three core, the brown should be in COM, the black in L1, the grey in L2.
