Hi. I've just moved a kitchen cupboard so that I have eye level cupboards either side of the gas cooker with a 63cm gap. So I'm thinking I could put a 60cm extractor filter above the cooker in the gap. What I'd like to do then is run the cable down the side of the cupboard against the back wall to plug into the socket at the side of the cooker. Is there any reason I shouldn't do it that way? Does it need to be isolated further from the heat of the cooker?

So you are fitting something 60cm wide into a 63cm gap - is this correct?

If so, this leaves you with a 1.5cm gap either side of your new extractor through which you wish to run your cable?

Most extractors have their supply cable exiting from the rear of the unit, so you'll have to chase it into the wall immediately behind the extractor. Also, for gas cookers/hobs, the extractor will need to be at least 700mm above the burners. Check the instructions which come with the extractor for more info.
