Loft stairs, not loft ladder? Loft ladder should be okay if you are just storing the odd stuff up there.

If stairs then it suggests you are making the loft area into a habitable place where you will spend time (like a loft conversion). If so then I think you are going to need planning permission, and your questions will get answered by the BCO assigned to the job.

I wouldn't think it would be desirable to have stairs coming down into a bathroom, even if it is legit. If someone was up in the loft and came down they might find someone sat on the loo (or worse...). Not very good for privacy!

If it was en-suite theres no different to being on the same floor.

Still need permission though.

You could be right about that. I just noticed the plural "floors" in the original.

However, if it is a staircase then it might be iffy to bring it down into a bathroom because the staircase would be a fire escape, and the bathroom door could potentially be a barricade. Can't see the BCO being happy about that.

We don't know enough about the installation to be sure, however I would have thought that if the staircase came down in a room with a door on it then it might break fire regulations - because in a smoke filled building you might have difficulty finding the door knob (or the door might be locked?).

A staircase is a means of escape in a fire situation, so putting physical roadblocks in the way must surely raise some eyebrows?

if you was having aloft conversion done covered by building &fire regs youre stairs would have to exit on to a landing as you are effectively creating another storey to youre house you have to have a fire break between the new storey and the landing .
legally there  isnt nothing to stop you putting a fixed staicase into youre bathroom while you are living  there(without building regs)BUT,youre loft conversion cant be counted as living space .this will become apparent if sell youre house.
this is when the building&fire regs will "kickin". then  you would have to rip out the staircase &put back the ceiling to its original state.ps god forbid .but if ever had to make a claim against youre insurance for fire you would find it null &void.

wow, to much to take in here
regs are availible, but we need to plan layout.
this is a mid terrage property.
the attic joists are 3x2 which i intent to double up, new stairs will be fitted straight down to the bathroom  (no door)
a door from the said bathroom will then lead to the next room (kitchen)
first floor joists are 7 x 2.5, part new.

okay...
the door that is not there leads to the stair up to the loft.
there is a door to the rest of the house (lockable)
the wc in the bathroom also has it's own door.
plus, we are all friends here............

this is going to be difficult one this one, i can see it...
