Jun 14th, 2004, 6:07pm

now this ones a pozser that took a few minuits
before the penny dropped

wooden exterior gate
two hinges one top one bottom
heavy duty steel at least 20 years old

two hinges look identical on the outside
one on the inside badly pitted
other virtually untouched

now i suspect dewy woodsmith and others
will find this one quite easy

One of my side gates has had a problem for years.
There is a 3' & 5' gate & the 5' one keeps sagging.
I have moved the catch then it moves lower. I moved the heavy hinges but it sagged again.
I always blamed my kids for climbing on it.
I added extra bracing but it's down another 2" now.
I finally realised the problem.
They're interwoven gates to match the fence.
The builders hung the gates so the Z braces were the same.
i.e. |/||/| when they should have been |/||\|
To think. I should have noticed this years ago.  Embarrassed
I should have rehung the offending large gate but I already bought the timber to make new shiplap clad ones. At least I know how to stop this happening again. Smiley

I'm also making sure the hinges are high enough to keep away from all but the tallest dogs. lmao

The straight up lines are Alt124 on the number pad or you can get them from the 'character map' in 'Accessories/System Tools.
