Electric nailers
Jul 8th, 2004, 10:48pm

I am a laminate floor fitter and use an air nail gun to fix beading to skirting boards. This has been nicked. Am thinking about getting an electric nailer, the Arrow nailmaster. Would this fix beading or would it be underpowered. Dont fancy paying £100,s for a compressor and gun again. Any ideas or advice?

Welcome to Novoserve Elias.
I put my bit in about electric nailers on the SF forum earlier.
Won't the tool shop let you try it before buying?
The last thing you want is a nailer that leaves the brads sticking out on a customers beading.

well you certainly have got about tonight asking
this question
i have the blue arrow 100 it is a nice bit of kit
brads are 25mm max they have poor pull out
resistance if you pin and glue or mastic ok
if you just pin not so good as said by d w d
youve got to push hard and it leaves
fang marks ok if you want to fill Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed
i love mine for t and g paneling or 6mm ply

Elias, I've got a Rapesco and it has the same problems as Dewy and Big All have said. It leaves a large indent around the nail head and a good 30-50% of the nails are left proud and they are then very hard to punch in.

I've bought a Paslode Angled finish nailer and that is fantastic, but at a price; and I have heard that there are reliability problems, although I have had no problems myself.

With the one i have got, it will not fire all the way and leaves a bit sticking out.  At first like people said i tried punching them in and found they bent really easy.

What i do now is fire them in and then just finish them flush with my pin hammer and then punch them and it works fine.

If that fails its time for the compressor and nailer and nothing fails that beast Grin Wink

Seeing as theres been so much coverage of this electric nailer, I thought it best to let everyone know I am now in possession of my blue nailer thingy! Its been a long journey, but we are finally there!!!

Fires well, actually penetrates 9mm laminate!!! Think it will sort out poxy MDF beading.

See what people mean about the firing marks...can be pretty deep but for £29 cant grumble and its gonna save alot of time.

Cheers for all the advice and comments...job done! Cheesy Cheesy
