Hey Dusty, TLC are very pricey, they have a good range but there prices are not brilliant im afraid, screwfix have more reasonable prices on brand name stuff like MK, but becarefull as they sell makes like Volex which are a cheap and nasty make, Rexel Sennate may be able to help you out or failing that a local electrical wholesalers, instead of online that is.

toolstation is another option, most of there stuff is of good quality and good value too.

Oddly most web based purchases are actually more expensive than going into the place and buying over the counter - for electrical items. I know for sure this applies to TLC.

Come to think of it probably not that 'odd' -

You can often get a discount at wholesellers, and
I think most treat having a web site through which you can purchase is a pain-in-the-ass for them. Only the likes of Screwfix are geared up for this sort of trading most if not all electrical wholesellers are 'high street' based sellers to the trade.

My education could do with a facelift here. You mean that a wholesaler won't necessarily charge the ticket price for something I want to purchase? How does that work then?

No they don't - that's what the guy at TLC's Guiilford branch told me as well I have acquired goods from TLC both over counter and web and paid less over counter. OK it maybe a 'discount' but I have only purchased twice from there over the counter so hardly well known there and do not have an account.

Well since I found the electrical wholesaler next door to Wickes in Bracknell (literally) I haven't had a need to use TLC.

Mind you, I've only been in that wholesaler the once. Reminded me a decent bar with the banter that was going on over the counter, minus the beer pumps of course Smiley

Oh yeah, and the big-booby landlady.....

i think the ticket price is the maximum they will charge

but they will discount based on various factors such as order size, regular use, having an account, finding you pleasent to deal with etc

i think they make the stated prices artificially high to put off diyers from using them

btw i made my first order from tlc recently

ordered about 4pm
despatched the next day
arrived by parcel force 24 the day after (and yes i did only select standard delivery)

Hey rabbit where you from? I used to work for an electrical company in guildford, now moved away to live with girlfriend up tut north. Miss the driving to london every day and the loveley congestion charge. LoL TL:C are excellent for over the counter stuff, as you say, but when you move up here and everyone thinks your a diyer they just charge you what they like , cost me a fiver for two double dry lining boxes and a dual flush box yesterday at neweys, bloody rip off merchants .
