noisy pipes
Nov 12th, 2004, 4:08pm

i have recently had a new boiler installed and this works fine.problem is the noise from the pipes upstairs when the heating is on we used to get a little noise at first with the old boiler but this is now constant with new boiler .the noise is i have been told is due to the pipes under the floor
expanding (sounds like a clicking)which i can understand but why has it got worse due to new boiler and is there anyway to stop it without dragging boards up

It the notches are too tight then the floor boards have to come up to ease them, slip a plastic strip around the pipe too avoid contact with the woold.

Get a screwdriver and stick the blunt end in your ear, then try and locate the noise.

A coomon problem is where the pipes exit the floor and the holes are too tight, and where the pipes go through the plasterboard and has been made good.

a bit of cellafelt round the pipe at each notch usually does the trick too
