One pipe hot water heating system??
Nov 24th, 2004, 11:12pm

What is the advantage or drawback of a "one pipe" hot water heating system?

It's currently the setup being used in a small two story home, but, I am in the process of changing over to a high efficiency boiler and I 'd like to know how that "one pipe" system will tie in with that new boiler compared to its function with the old innefficient boiler.

Is the "one pipe" setup more or less efficient than large water volume radiator types of systems?

Both new and old boilers have comparable circulating pumps.

Not suitable for one pipe systems if you read the MFI.

Scruff, or anyone else, are you able to indicate reasons why it would not be suitable?

Name and model of the boiler please, but normally its printed in the manufacturers instuction, installation manual.

Something to do with return temperatures I think.

Thanks for the reply scruff. Sorry about not posting that important info.

It's an NY Thermal, Legacy L-150.

I've read through the manual thouroughly and it does not say that it can't be used on a one pipe system.
