Is there a way to preserve the colour of oak without having to varnish, strip and re-varnish every few years? If left naked it goes a nice silver colour which is ok but I prefer it as cut.
I was wondering if there was an oil/wax like product that doesn't have to be stripped off each time - you just apply more.
The problem with transparent paints/stains is that unless you get all of the original coat off you get darker patches showing through the new coat.
Any ideas?
