The Server......and money!
Jul 1st, 2008, 8:30pm

We have had the forum hosted on a commercially based, dedicated professional server for the last 2 years.

Most will remember when we had huge problems with the private server and internet connection.

Since moving to a professional server we have not had any down time, and the forum has been a lot quicker.

Having the forum professionally hosted obviously costs.

I personally paid the last two years hosting when transferring servers, and this two years hosting is due for renewal.

I hope all will agree that the forum is best left on the server it is currently on, and the hosting fees paid.

The hosting fee for the next two year period is £37.58 inclusive.  This is a very competitive price for a premium service.

We have always said that ATT will remain a free forum and that membership will never cost.  This is to continue, however, we would greatly appreciate any donations towards this renewal fee.

If you would like to donate any funds, please send me a private message and I will give you details on how to donate by post, Paypal, bank transfer etc.

Lets all give a thumbs up to ATT for the next two years!

Regards, Lectrician (Martin).

What no replies!!

Well chaps that works out to be 1.45 pence per member (at time of writing) a year!!

Geez the Queen (Bless Her) costs each of us 66 pence a year and Mr. Darling (the sweetie) costs each of us around £9,000 a year. And so order of importance reads like this -

1. ATT

2. HRH Liz

3. Mr. Darling and Mr. Brown

and just think if you send ATT £9,000 it means that you can send Mr. Darling a bunch of dandelions.

The target has been met with thanks to all who have contributed.

Any surplus will be held for the future if that is ok with everyone.

Thanks all for the support.

I will be doing that once the renewal as been processed (end of this month).  I posted this thread early expecting it to be a slower process!

I will list the amount shortly (but will not be listing who contributed, as I feel this is private to the forum and individuals).  Those who have contributed, and want to annouce what they have given, can of course go a head!

Thanks all for the support  -  Lets get some decent posts up in the public forums and get some more posters (we have hundreds of viewers each day, excluding the search engines).

Edited:
To be honest, I think it better that anyone who wishes to know the amount contributed contacts me or another admin.  I do not think it right to list figures in the open forum.

Why ever not Lec.

Its for the running of the forum, and it's nice to give members a pat on the back sometimes.

Unless it only came to 20quid that is, then we can slag them off for being tight arses.  Grin

OK.

Thanks all for the support.

A total of 6 members contributed, a mix of trade and non trade members.

A total of £77.50 was raised, with £2.62 in paypal fees to be deducted.

It is anticipated that the renewal will cost £37.58 at the end of the month.

This leaves a healthy £37.30.

As previously discussed somewhere, I am happy to return funds to members who have donated, or keep this money to one side for the future.

Concur with Scruff the payments stay with Lec.

Who knows in time you may, or will, be needing funds for new h/w and s/w (unless you are using Apple computers in which case it will be just fine for the next few hundred years  Wink
