Utility Room wall upgrade

My utility room was built on the back of my garage by the previous owner. It's end wall (not load bearing) is single 100mm Bradstone on a concrete 80mm thick slab.
I want to improve the construction by adding an extra wall making a cavity wall built on proper footings. My questions are:
1. What cavity thickness should I go for 50, 75 or 100mm?
2. From the footings up to the bottom of the existing concrete slab will be clay (under the slab), should I fit batts in this, and if so do I need to put in a vertical membrane between the clay and the bats?
3. Will conventional wall ties be ok between the existing wall and the new wall or do I need something stronger to help support the old wall?
Thanks for any suggestions
Rod
