remedy for tiles sloping the wrong way
Nov 8th, 2009, 8:59pm

I have a tiled outdoor area which is covered with a roof (In Turkey) for the best part of the year there is no rain, however in Winter the rains can be quite heavy and with high winds the rain can blow in to the tiled area. The tiles slope slightly the wrong way but sufficient to allow the water to `pool`in a couple of areas.
On leaving the property at the end of October I put a line of silicone bead in a couple of areas to (hopefully) prevent the water running in to the areas that it normally pools in. (see pictures)
When I go back out next year I would like to try and do a more permanent fix but don`t want to lift and lay new tiles.
Anyone got any ideas of a fix for this that wont cost the earth?

The water tends to run towards the brown coloured shutters and also around the pillar.

Other than lifting the existing tiles, levelling the floor and re-tiling, no sorry.
You could put up screens to keep the water off the tiles but that may not look very nice and may cost more than tiling?

Hi - We had a similar problem in UK and a forum member put me onto these and they work a treat. However go for the heavy duty if people are likely to walk on them at all. They do a version suitable for use on a slope as low as 15 Degrees.

Darn it only just noticed the post is a few months old Sad

A mate of mine thought he would re-tile the bathroom he re-fitted.

He didn't level the bath correctly (because he wanted a fall, even though the bath had it's own fall).  He didn't think about this until he started tiling.

He kept finding awkward cuts at the walls, and thought his walls must be out - until he reached ceiling level.  Almost an inch out Grin

If only he took a view of the bigger picture and stood back and looked!  It was so obvious when you walked in, you almost tilted your head to compensate!

Thats worse than the tiler not knowing about the secret duck and putting them in upside down.
