Pointed fence posts

Why can't you buy pointed 75mm square garden fence posts?

In the past I've errected post and rail paddock and allotment fence using either 100mm square or round posts. Pointed so they can be just pressed or hammered in. Now finding it impossible to buy 3" square pointed posts anywhere without getting them cut and or re-treated specially.

If they point them and someone wants a square end they have to cut off the point and the post is then too short! Far easier to stock square-ended and cut the point if needed, which is what most people do, buying a container of treatment fluid (usually just pence) which they then soak the cut ends in - creosote would do just as well.

Why not stock both? Why bother, given the above? It's about maximising stock and reducing the (expensive) space in which "choice" has to be stored!

Thing is they stock 4", 5" and even 6" pointed posts in square and round. Just not 3". Anyway got a good price on 20 posts today and have just finished cutting point on them. They're now standing in a buckets soaking.  Next job is to get some 6 foot wide chicken wire ordered and make a door.

Bad news is my wife has noticed I have some oak planks and roof tiles left over from another project and is hinting that I could build a really fancy chicken house,
