dodgy wall
Jul 31st, 2012, 12:27pm

going to be painting the stairs and landing in the next week or so.  one wall has been papered, then painted (several times) and then got filler on it, bits of paper peeled off then painted over etc

i know that the only way to get a good finish on it is gonna be to skim it, but how much of what's there am i going to need to remove first?

don't worry.  lifted off 7 layers of paper, most of which had been painted too, and found that the plaster under it all was actually quite good.  bit of filler where the cables have been sunk into it, and a quick tickle with the sander and it'll look fine Smiley

If you need to achieve good finish you need remove paper and skim the wall.
