Gap around edge of chipboard flooring
Aug 15th, 2013, 4:41pm

I understand that when laying chipboard flooring, it is necessary to leave a 10mm gap at the edges for expansion.
My problem is that I am flooring over an exercise pool (not used and emptied), so that the chipboard flooring edges are not near the skirting board.
How do I leave an expansion gap without leaving a 10mm gap in the middle of the floor?
Or, is their a better way to do this?
If I didn't explain this very well, I could post a photograph when I work out how to do that.

size off timbers [8x2" for example]
and what centers are they at

or if you have a small pool without a support structure what size is it ??

A photograph would help and there are instructions in one of the topics fixed at the top of the forum. What are you butting the flooring up against? If its an immovable object you can fit 10mm strips of cork or some other compressible material in the gap.

Hello,
It is immovable, it's the rest of the floor which is tiled concrete.

I think the 10mm cork is the answer, thanks for that

Hello,
I am using joists at 400mm centres. I am not sure of the size but it's about 3.5m squarish.

I have the A1 table to calculate my joist sizes.
