Can I use a shower trap on a basin?
Jan 12th, 2015, 6:12pm

Can I ise a shower trap on a basin, the space I have is really limited in an understairs toilet, the basin will sit on a box like a counter top in an old window space and I can't lift it too much so wondered if a shower trap would still got/work instead of a p trap?

Thanks in advance

Unlikely as too big.

Why not use a cap and lining if it's tight then fit an waterless trap in the pipe run (HepV°)

Perhaps a remote trap? Doesn't have to be right under the basin?

Something like this..

Typical! I looked everywhere for those remote traps when I put a sink in our laundry room.  Ended up using this silly flat thing.

As for the original question, when I worked at plumb center we had a thread adaptor to let you fit 1.5 inch trap to 1.25 inch waste.  Would give you another option

Thanks guys
I couldn't find anything in my local stores based on what you suggested so bad to use a short bottle trap from b&q, ultimately I had to lift the basin slightly higher which is more than I would have liked but it will be a fine solution

This is the part I used

Thanks again for your help
