Washing machine waste to bathroom..yes or no?
Aug 1st, 2015, 8:22pm

Hi,
I need to move my washing machine and the only suitable location will require sending the waste on an alternative route, previously the waste was connected to the kitchen sink and now I want to take it to a bathroom basin ( that outlets to soil pipe) my question is can I do this and if so can I do it in the same way as it was previously connected via the kitching sink trap.

Just to add, the washing machine is staying located in the kitchen and hopefully I can take the waste through 2 walls and on to the bathroom waste.

Hello & thanks for the reply,

The washing machine is approximately 3 meters from the bathroom basin.
I was planning on taking the waste through a wall ( then under a shower tray in next partition )
And through another wall to basin. I did think about linking up to the shower outlet but decided against that. I have seen washing machine waste hoses on Amazon with a length of 3.5 m and extension hoses.

Extension hoses are not a great idea, especially if concealed.

Does the sink waste exit low level, close to the floor? You can't run a proper waste pipe to adjacent/behind washer?  Possibly on external wall to the soil pipe?

Hi, yes the existing waste ( bathroom basin) runs close to the floor so I guess I could run a proper waste pipe through however I will need to bore a larger hole though wall and under shower tray, this sounds like the best bet.
If I take this option should I use a swept tee joint to join to the existing floor waste and is there any danger of the basin waste and shared shower waste flowing the wrong way.

Yes the sweep tee is best, but try and connect after any other appliances, making sure the sweep is the right way round.
