PIR light into socket
Nov 30th, 2015, 1:18pm

I have had outside sockets which are wired to my comsumer unit with trips and I want to install outside pir light into socket. if I wire it with 2.5m cable and put 13amp socket on the end, would that be legal and safe?

You can't use twin and earth in a plug. you could use 1mm or 1.5mm flex. the fuse would need to be 3A. The flex would need to be suitable for use outside and correctly run. The circuit will need to be protected by a RCD. Is it a IP rated socket?
