Spacing Boiler off the wall?
Mar 31st, 2016, 2:37pm

Hi folks,
Before I get my new shiny Intergas combi boiler installed, a quick question:
It is to be sited on a wall which is only about 10" wider than the boiler itself, and all the pipes will be dropping from above. Space for pipes at the side is a bit tight...- Can the boiler be spaced off the wall to allow the pipes to drop from above and route behind the boiler to the bottom connections? or will they have to go to the side of the boiler like I have seen in the brochure pictures?
Advice appreciated - I don't want to ask my installer to do the impossible!
The wall is solid masonry.

I thought most boilers had a gap down the back for this very purpose?

Yes you can with the mounting bracket, I will suggest you get the remote expansion vessel, as it is much better and will give you more room for the pipes.

Expansion vessel assumes you'll have the sealed system and not an open vented one.

I couldn't make out from the brochure if there was space at the back...
Thanks for the replies and for the advice about the expansion tank.
I'll get my installer to look first anyway.
