Nope, we're on mains water (thames water area) but it is *very* hard - descaling the kettle and shower head is a weekly job

That's because it's been recycled so many times  Grin

Is your water from a bore hole or similar?

The slight leak became rather more effective, so I have gone with copper as that's what I could get off the shelf today Undecided

Wondering if a stainless one might actually be more suitable for here, as this is the 2nd time I've replaced the cylinder since I've been here (11 years)

Leaking vented cylinder
Jan 5th, 2017, 11:23am

Hey guys, just a quick one.  My vented cylinder has sprung a leak.  Looks to be just a small pinhole in the base of it.  I know I could get the hole soldered/brazed but it's only a cheapy wickes cylinder, so I'm gonna swap it for a decent one.  Its a nice easy 18/36 so not going to be too horrific cost wise, but should I go for a copper or a stainless one?  I wasn't aware that you could get stainless vented cylinders until now!
