Switching bedside lamps from either side
Feb 27th, 2017, 2:10pm

I'd like to setup a pair of bedside lamps so that I can switch either light from either side. I was thinking that a pair of 2-gang, 2-way switches would do. However as far as I can see there isn't an "inline" version of a 2-way switch or lamps that come in this arrangement which makes me feel this is breaking the rules.

What are my options? Are there switches or lamps that you can buy that do this? Is it easier to go for some sort of remote control LED bulbs?

Thank you for any advice you can offer.

It is usual to fit wall switches, surface or flush, and have these switch 2 or 5 amp sockets at low level, these sockets feeding the lamps.

I think those 2/5A sockets have round pins so you use matching round pin plugs on the lights as well.
