Removal of Taps
Feb 22nd, 2018, 4:06pm

Hi
Im wondering if anybody can give me some advice. I am wanting to change some valves from my tap but unable to do so because they wont budge so have decided to change the tap itself.

When I look underneath sink, I can see the pipes connected to the tap pipe via the nuts, but unable to reach to it. There is a gold part that stops me lifting the tap from above to enable me to reaching the nuts above the sinking by slightly pulling the pipes up, There is the gold part which stops me from lifting the tap up, i dont know what this is for and more importantly how to remove it, the drainage link goes through it which i have removed.

I understand one needs a wrench to remove the nut from the pipe but I dont believe a wrench will have enough space to get around the nut, plus the nut is hidden in the gap and does not stand out to give me a change to get a hold on it

P.S I am a novice...

First, you need to make sure the water is turned off.

You'll need an adjustable basin wrench Screwfix stock code is 14631 £5.99
