Title: First Fix Post by Bob on Oct 23rd, 2006, 7:24pm Evening All I'm banging a first fix in on two bedrooms where it will be plasterboard fixed in a dot + dab methord. This is a bit new to me as I'm more used to getting my mighty chiesel out. Firstly does the wall need channeling for the cable or is the thickness of the plaster (dots) that hold the plasterboard equal (or more than) 2.5mmsq t+e with some capping over it? Secondly do you sink the boxes right in or do you leave some sticking out so the nice builder has to cut out the plaster board to go round them? Cheers :D |

Title: Re: First Fix Post by Lectrician on Oct 23rd, 2006, 7:50pm Ask the builder if you have chance - they all dab differently. Many are happy for you to fix a 25mm box directly on the wall, where others want it sunk half way in. As for the cable - there is nothing to stop you simply clipping it tight to the wall, but this is considered a little DIY-ish. Capping is the next best thing, directly onto the wall. A proper job would be oval tube sunk in slightly, but this has become pointless.........as you would never win a contract if you priced to chase every job a smidge. Upto you - clip the cables tight, or cap them. As for the box - ask the builder how far the finished wall front will be from the block. |
