I need to get some board onto the bare-brick walls of a bathroom before doing a bathroom re-fit.

I'm a dot and dab virgin and was wondering the best way of doing it. :-?

Do I get a lower board on first, stick it square and plumb and prop it off the floor, then measure, cut and stick some board to meet the ceiling boards?

How long does the adhesive take to grip and go off?
