Title: Plastic skirting boards
Post by Demelza100 on Jun 28th, 2009, 6:22pm

My daughter is currently building a house and wants to use plastic skirting boards (to avoid painting now and in the future). I have found several sites but they all seem really expensive - especially doing a whole house. Does anyone know of a supplier who they can recommend?  I have been told to contact local upvc suppliers but they all seem to deal with double glazed windows, fascias etc and not skirting boards. Grateful for any help.

The easiest skirting boards to use are MDF ones, they come ready primed and only need a top coat. I would avoid plastic skirting, it looks poor and as it gets charged up with static it attracts dust, carpet fibres etc. The more you clean it the dirtier it gets.

Just my 2p

What about using vinyl wrapped MDF, thats if she is definately stuck on the idea of white skirtings maintenance free!
