Title: Re: Testing software Post by The_Trician on Mar 18th, 2010, 6:13pm I prefer paper - it's much quicker. But if you want to go the software route, then apparently a package form a company called Tysoft is the way forward. TT |

Title: Re: Testing software Post by dingbat on Mar 28th, 2010, 9:17am Hi Tredders, there's lots of stuff out there and the Tysoft package is well-liked. But, none of the software seems to be compiled by anybody with a thorough knowledge of the requirements; they are mostly copies of what other companies offer. Most also insert a lot of field values automatically and you might find you spend a lot of time (and wasted printouts) proof-reading to produce the correct/desired. As regs change and as software is updated, you might need to pay for updates. In the case of larger companies, like Amtech, the service charge alone would make you wince. My experience, for what it's worth, is that, compared to hand-written certs, using software is far more time-consuming, produces variable results in terms of presentation and is considerably more expensive. Try before you buy. |
