Title: small substation problem Post by supra59 on Mar 22nd, 2010, 7:12pm hi guys been to a job today where the roof as been leaking over a small substation of an industrial estate when i arrived mweb as dug the rd up and cut off the supply to the sub , stating unsafe and landlord as to put right the leak and all switch gear etc and they have also said the tails are the wrong sizes to some of the switch gear which is correct but the layout is as follows main supply in goes to a 300 amp switch then to small overloaded three phase buzbar chamber then from the busbar it feeds appox 16 different units all with recs meters and isolators, there is also another 200amp switch off the same buzbar, so am i correct in thinking that the buzbar is there property and also all the tails from the buzbar supplying the meters is theres ? , and after the meter is down to the landlord as there is quite a few of the tails wrongly sized and only got single insulation, also most of the swa cables feeding the units come into a 6in trunking at the bottom then back out at the top to the meters with 6 to 10in of the cable showing and are also single insulated and not covered and real messy but cant take them out of the meter because there all sealed please give your thoughts on the way forward. i have left the best till last in one of the 200 amp isolators theres four 10mm cables doubled up feeding another buzbar, then off the buzbar there is 3 x 100 amp switches feeding three units mad but true lol any advise will be welcomed thanks |
