Title: Lining paper shrinkage Post by juco on Jun 4th, 2011, 11:08pm Just moved to new house and in need of decorating, I have noticed that several walls hav lining paper (horizontal) there appears to be some shrinkage between some sheets. Whats the best way to fill this in prior to painting? The gap is no more than a mm, would the paint fill it? |

Title: Re: Lining paper shrinkage Post by Twobarrows on Jun 5th, 2011, 12:38pm Use a plasterboard jointing paste for the fine filler (it comes in a huge tub & will last you about 129 years!), will fill smooth and dry quick. |

I think the stuff I have is Gyproc, came from plasterboard section of BNQ, cost about £10, needs occassional stirring but will last my lifetime! |

Lining paper is hung horizontally before hanging wallpaper so the joints have no chance of falling in the same place. It also equalises the stresses. Even if you are going to paint it, it is sometimes quicker to hang horizontally than vertically. |
