The forums hosting fees are due - £49.99+VAT for the next 12 months (£4.16+VAT per month).

We have, in the past, requested donations.
I would like to do so again, having paid myself last year.

If we do not manage to raise the funds, I shall of course find the funds from somewhere,
so please don't feel you have to contribute.

Anything in Global Announcements appears in all boards :)

Although it is at the top where many don't look! It still would have a "new" icon next to it though...

Dig deep Guys, Martin paid for the forum out of his own pocket the last two years.

How about building up a chest for future years and give posters the chance to donate if they are happy with the free advice they get.

We pay for hosting now Big_all - The forum resides on a server *somewhere* in the UK, this is what the £49.99+VAT per year pays for. No lecky bills or maintenance to be paid for, this is all down to our webhost :)

I was going to leave the "Donate" button up - Seems foolish not to :)

so theres no equipment needed for the day to day running off the forum in your house thats needs to be on 24/7 :-?

No. The forum is fully hosted with a webhost on one of their servers. That's what we pay for.

The forum (along time ago) used to run on an old PC setup as a server in Supersparkies loft. As the forum attracted huge amounts of traffic and spam attempts, his broadband line could not cope and the forum kept dropping. I decided to put the forum onto the paid hosting which ensures uptime. The forum travelled in a jiffy bag from supersparky to me, and I uploaded it to the new hosts. It has been with the same hosts since.

must be the fact that the Olympics is ending... but i was having a mad "WOLF" moment or two reading this thread....

vision's of this little forum, yelling "HELP".. bashing the sides of clear plastic whilst travelling to and fro in a jiffy bag... hope it had air holes in it Lec...

and this most generous and flush rodent who's paid our running costs this year.. Mr Anony Mouse.... very nice creature....

and NO!! i have not been on any Booze, i have been tea-total for 21 years and don't miss it at all....

just glad around here can bet back to something resembling normal from tomorrow..... "Limp-pic" lanes gone, no road closures etc etc etc...and no F*@kin' helicopters buzzing over head from morning till midnight from tomorrow...Yeahhhhhhh!!!!!

Not a spoilsport, as Mrs Wolf and I have enjoyed selected items... but you need to try living and trading within 10-12 miles of the stadiums etc... and the Helico....

i won't go on, but to days peace was bliss... with no re-directed aircraft either.... Ahhhhh!!!! :)

we get the open golf semi reguarly as we live between 2 of the popular courses and traffic is a nightmare during it but it is just something you put up with.

admittedly i imagine the olymoics where a whole new level

I'm not going to do the whole "we need money thing", but simply post the below, and encourage as many people as possible who have found the forum useful over the last year to make a small token donation if they feel the help they received was helpful! Donations can be made via paypal (which is where the funds for this renewal are debited from).

Raised bang on £65, so a tad over the yearly hosting fees. This will be put aside for the domain costs which are around £15 every two years, and due this year in a few months.

Rather than start a new thread, thought I would tag onto this year old one!

The forums hosting costs went through last month, being debited to my credit card automatically.

I was going to try to move the forum to some shared hosting this year (cost saving), but did not manage to get this done, so we will stay where we are for a further a year.

There was a small amount of money left in the kitty from last year which paid the costs of the domain name renewal, and we have had some small donations since.

The kitty currently stands at £35.

Below is the invoice for the years hosting.

Unfortunately, as we run completely advert free, we have no income other than donations.

Please don't feel obliged to donate, it is not expected at all!

Donations can be made by Paypal (using a credit or debit card if you don't have a Paypal account). The link is in the top right corner of all pages.

on the contrary lec my contribution is small compared to yours it costs you far more time wise and probably electric wise than the simple contributions i make

if you consume 100w every hour off every day thats 2.4kw every day at 15p a unit is 36p a day £2.52p a week or £131 a year :o :o
