Title: so you dont fancy pooing on a stick
Post by big_all on May 29th, 2014, 7:33pm

like most people we all avoid anything that checks what comes out the body as no one knows our body like we do

or do we :dunno: :dunno:

full story

at 60 age related test poo on a stick to a card 2 times per motion so 2 spots over 3 days or 6 samples
send it off get a second test and repeat

now the test measures minute amounts off blood in your poo
these can be from several sources like bleeding nose/throat/gums
infection/piles /polips
infact from quite a few sources with cancer being a small pecentage so really suspecting low chance off cancer

invited for a colonoscapy[camera up the bum]

really nice team
you watch the large tv and what they find
they expain whats going on as they go
yep this looks like a polyp and they take a byopsy
another polyp another byopsy
then a third one he says this
" this one is hard"
i say
"does that mean its cancer"
he says
"what do you think your here for"-----------------------

------------------- award for tact off the year goes too

any way approximately 5 or so weeks later 1/2 my lower bowel removed now fully clear no cancer
the actual cancer was the size off a 50p and as thin
now you can never say never but fingers crossed

Well that was sort of lucky, now that you are the right side of the treatment anyway. Catching it so early should mean it has gone for good, it doesn't bear thinking about what would have happened of they hadn't caught it in time.

I hope you soon get back to 100% and can get back in the workshop.

Ohhh...snap!  Not the cancer bit ( and I hope you make a full recovery) but the colonoscopy part as I had one (my first) on Tuesday.  Did you go a-Googling like me before you went?  Read all the horror stories about the prep part?  The pain of the colonoscopy?

Load of tosh, wasn't it!

From your description I guess you 'manned up' as well and avoided being sedated?

The prep can indeed be a bit of a problem, especially if ther is a traffic jam on the way to the hospital. In my case it turned out to be Ulcerative Colitis. I'm hoping they won't need to do work on my plumbing but jury still out on that.

Surely the timing is such that you've done with 'the business' long before you get to start driving to the hospital?  Least case, it was for me.  Have to say I was underwhelmed by the reality....after reading many posts on the internet (mainly American, I have to confess) one could be forgiven for thinking that it was Krakatoa all over again!

In reality?  A damp squib.  American's are such woozies!

Now if anyone can tell me how to slow my gut transit time down I am all ears!  12 hours mouth to backside....too quick.
