Title: Bandsaw bed needed Post by Demorphic on Jun 17th, 2014, 1:19pm Hello there, Woodworking beginner here. I picked up a cheap Axminster AWSBS bandsaw off eBay but it has no stand and has no attached bed. Just wondering if anyone has a bed or stand to sell, or any advice on where (if anywhere) I might be able to pick one up. Thanks in advance for any help! Matt |
Title: Re: Bandsaw bed needed Post by woodsmith on Jun 17th, 2014, 7:03pm It should be easy enough to make a simple stand yourself. I made one for my mortiser and it is basically just a box on castors. You could add some drawers to give yourself a bit more storage too. As for the bed, if you mean the table the work rests on as it is cut, that would be more tricky to make good. The best material would probably be thick ply but you would need to see if there was some way you could securely attach it to the machine. |

It was my first bandsaw and still use it almost daily. You could fix a ply bed using these threaded inserts although I would go for 8mm if the holes are large enough. http://www.screwfix.com/p/insert-nut-type-d-m6-pack-of-50/59937 I thoroughly recommend throwing away the blade that came with it and buying a new one from Ian at Tuffsaws. http://www.tuffsaws.co.uk/ Ian is incredibly helpful when it comes to choosing the right blade. Last but not least, I heartily recommend the Bandsaw DVD from http://www.workshopessentials.com/shop/ The other DVDs are also very good. |
