Title: Dimmer Delay
Post by Overrunning Project on Mar 25th, 2017, 9:40am

Hi

We have just had some dimmer switches installed however when we turn them on there is a long delay before the lights switch on.  There is also a large delay when you try to dim the lights.

Does anyone know what the problem is and how we could resolve this?

Thanks

What sort of light is it dimming?

Could be that the delay is a soothing capacitor or capacitive dropper in an led him  or fitting that has to charge up / discharge and that's giving you the delay?

Hi
Thanks for the reply.

They are dimming LED downlights.
Thanks

You are best using a dimmer recommended by the LED manufacturer.  A short delay is normal.

Hi
We have just had 3 dimmable spot lights fitted on the same circuit and their response time is perfect.  I don't understand how the downlights take 3 -4 seconds to switch on however the 3 dimmable spot lights switch on immediately?
Thanks

Different fittings?  Different LEDs?  Different dimmers?  Getting the combo right is a challenge.

The problem looks to be solved.  I got another electrician round and he fitted the following - Aurora LED Dimming Module AU-DSP400X.  It seems to work perfectly now.

Thanks for help
