Title: Attaching timber to old sandstone walls Post by scg_80 on Oct 29th, 2017, 10:38pm Hello, I want to add several feet of trellis fencing to the top of our garden walls to increase the height by up to 2 feet. Planning to attach vertical timber every 6 feet along the wall to then screw the trellis onto these. My problem is how to attach the upright timber to the wall as the stones are irregular and sandstone - around 100yrs+old. I have looked at various options but would greatly appreciate any suggestions!! Many thanks in advance. |

That way you can put a frame fixer in where the timber touches the stone. If you just want to use short lengths of wood then the best method to make a secure fixing to soft stone is with styrene free resin anchor. With this you drill holes in the wall, blow the dust out, inject resin into the hole and then push a short length of threaded rod into the resin. Once set, which is very quick, the rod is fixed for good, even on relatively soft stone and you can then bolt the timber to the wall using the rods. |
