Title: Modification to footings Post by Jtstevens on Nov 22nd, 2020, 10:59am Hi All It’s my first time posting so be nice 🙂 I am having an extension built and the footings have just been poured but no blocks laid yet. We have just realised that a larger footprint is needed in the extension, approximately 2 square meters additional space. Is it possible to extend the footings that have just been poured to enable a larger extension? There are no complicating factors like roof design or load bearing structural considerations. I would assume that footings sometimes get poured in the wrong place by accident and that subsequent additions are needed, so I am sure it’s not that rare to ask this question? Kind regards Oliver Ps. I do realise that it would have been smarter to make the plans bigger before the footings wee poured! But these things happen... |
Title: Re: Modification to footings Post by woodsmith on Nov 23rd, 2020, 8:36am It’s normally ok to extend footings but your building inspector will need to be informed and they will let you know if there are any problems with doing that on your site. |
