Title: Taps to 10mm pipe
Post by TrevorP on Jan 9th, 2022, 12:01pm

Hi, my daughter wants to change her cloakroom unit, but the taps are directly fitted to horrible 10mm pipes. The taps she has purchased have flexible fittings but these require 1/2” fittings. I cannot find any that would fit to the 10mm pipe.
Does anyone know of any easy fit solution?  I have found that using 15mm isolation valve with reducer, then 1/2” tap connector might work, but am worrying about the weight on this skinny pipe without any support.
Any ideas of what be best please?

I’m not a fan of the inserts to convert a 15mm compression fitting to 10mm and would normally use end feed soldered fittings to convert 10 to 15mm pipe. If you don’t want to solder then a Speedfit converter is your best option, https://www.toolstation.com/jg-speedfit-reducer/p51918
You should fit isolators to hot and cold too so you will probably need to add pipe clips if possible to give it some support. Just make sure the pipe is clean and smooth where the rubber seal fits inside the Speedfit fitting.

Never used these speedfit thinges just didn’t trust them, solder for me ever time. Yes will fit isolation valves, and will make up some extended clipping for support. Will look around for 10 to 15mm copper fittings, and clips.
Thanks for your help.

10mm to 15mm end feed fittings would be my choice.
