Title: making a light to rent out Post by Natedog on Mar 2nd, 2022, 10:46pm I've set myself up as self employed renting stuff out for weddings. I want to make some light up marquee letters (love, mr&mrs etc) my first thought was to use low voltage led lamps and buy a power supply. I can then get the supply tested to keep venues and insurers happy and that plugs into the low voltage stuff, everyone's happy. The problem is that i can't find large led filament bulbs for a sensible price. if i was to use mains voltage bulbs, what testing or certification would it need? do i need to do anything other than off to the local PAT testing place? |
Title: Re: making a light to rent out Post by Lectrician on Mar 6th, 2022, 7:55pm PAT ISAT testing should be all that's needed. It isn't a type tested assembly though, so you may find some testers won't be happy testing it. Have you looked at Cabochon Lighting? |

Title: Re: making a light to rent out Post by CWatters on Mar 15th, 2023, 4:57pm Looks great. If you ever need to make much smaller lights, you can buy loose "filament" of the sort that you see in the filament style LED bulbs. Only issue is they cant be cut to length. But they are available in different lengths and can be chained together. Excess can be painted black etc. |
