THICKNESSER
Apr 15th, 2004, 1:34pm

I am currently using a DW733 thicknesser.

Whilst more than happy with the finish produced, I am having trouble with the feed of the wood through the machine.
On thinner pieces, the wood sticks part way through, and requires pushing from the feed end.
This is particularly so with oak, if that makes any difference. A 2"x2" piece of mahogany went through like a knife through butter

What am I doing wrong?

Any advice gratefully received      Embarrassed

heelllooo shark if the wood is to thin
you can try backing it with another board for support

make shure your backing board is longer than
the bit you are planeing other wise youl get a step
when it comes off the rollers

Shark, oak can be a very difficult wood for the machine to plane.

When did you last sharpen the blade?

If the blade has lost it's edge and needs sharpening you will get exactly the problem you are encountering.

I had the same problem with my DW733 and oak, I now use a PTFE dry lubricant on the bed and the oak glides through nicely.
