May sound like a strange topic but I need to fit a large dogflap into a brick wall and are unsure what is the largest hole you can make without needing a lintel.
The dogflap will be approx. 40x60cm. The wall is brick on the outside and stud and plasterboard on the inside.
Any suggestions?

I have just read about the catflap but not much help. I dont really want a rottweiler trying to climb through one of my windows and the patio doors are no good as it will eat my new sofa! The flap needs to allow access to the utility room where the dogs bed is. Any more suggestions? ???
