Hi there i found all the posts on here most usefully but i am still having problems with prices.
I recently started advertising in our local paper for doors,skirting,dado,architrave iv had quite a few enquiries for door fitting one of the jobs i got but the rest of them i didn't. They say we will phone you back, they dont.
When quoting over the phone for doors do you quote the same price to fit doors that they provide than you would if you [/glow]provide them,i am not a qualified joiner but i am doing an nvq in carpentry and joinery nearly completed a year.
So i suppose what i am asking is how do i price up a job.
Price for labour+door+hinges+locks+handles=?
Also how do you qoute for skirting is it price per mtr+any scribed corners+labour+fixings also laminate flooring do you price it as per square metre ,And do you mark it all up,also daily rate,what should i charge.thanks for any help as i am desperate to start out in joinery and get away from the **** hole that i work at.south yorkshire area.cheers all

Im doing 2 internal doors in Rotherham on Thursday

I am fully qualified so i was charging £30 for the first internal door, and then £25 for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc

I have now put my prices up and charge £35 for the first internal door, and then £30 for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc,

I do do a lot of jobs for 4 or more doors.  Been doing one today for 6 internal doors.

I dont really supply but if i did i would just put money on for the costs, say £15 plus the hanging amount. A lot of my work the customer gets the door so they can chose the right one.  I don't really get asked to supply internal doors.

If you supply goods always add, at the VERY least, 10% on. It cost you time to order them and there is always the risk that the goods are faulty; if you supply them you are responsible. 20% is a more realistic figure for small quantities, going up to 50% for some, it is your call.

I ordered a door handle for a customer to see, she liked it so I ordered 21 more, then when I come back to fit them she has changed her mind and wants to leave the old ones.

This sort of thing cost you money you need to factor it into the price.
