Radiator position before walls dot+dabbed etc
Nov 18th, 2004, 12:19am

I'm at a stage to lay the floor in my extension ,but need to run the pipe work for the rads. The walls are bare blocks but will be dot+dabbed 9.5mm plasterboarded and plastered what sort of thickness do you allow for this.I was going to fix the rads to the wall on 19mm batteren to line the pipes up,then remove rad/battern lay floor, plasterboard+plater walls then fix rads back hope pipes line up.

is 19mm the right sort of thickness to allow

best to ask the man thats doing the job.

I would fix a batten to the wall the same thickness as the dab then fit the rad on a stip of plasterboard, pipe it up then remove the rad and plasterboard but leave the batten, that way you have a solid fixing for later.

with dry lining its common to do the walls first before the floor.

Dab will be 10-15mm depending a wall being upright and flat.

if you put  a 15mm batten the tacker could work to that.
