Cutting Trevertine tiles
May 16th, 2006, 5:13pm

I'm familiar with cutting and drilling ceramic tiles but how do you cut Travertine wall tiles? Say I wanted to cut a 600 wide tile down to 500 to tile a washbasin stand.

Thanks

Use an electric (wet Diamond) tile cutter, if you don't have one and it's just a one off then an angle grinder will do.

I know this is an old Q, but my dad has quite a neat tool  Roll Eyes

One of his hobbies is making stained glass panels, and for cutting the glass for that he has a sort of miniture bandsaw where the blade is like metal string coated with diamond fragments.   It runs either wet or dry and although its quite slow on hard materials it is brilliant for cutting complex shapes.   He bought it from the States years ago and I have never seen anything like it over here.
