Ring or Radial

Hi all,
We have just started work on wiring some new builds and all power cct have been specified as radials and not rings. I think they use radials in europe its only us in the UK that like using rings.
Is this going to be the new norm in the UK? I'm sure I heard something about the ring being phased out or becoming the less prefered method.
Has anyone else heard anything simlar?

Yes - rumours. Nothing confirmed but supposingly its rumoured for the 17th Edition due Jan 2008.
I hope it's true. Nothing like fitting a massive consumer units with 24 MCB's in a 2 bed flat

Why is it that, when we stumble across a can of worms, instead of running for the door we find ourselves reaching for a can opener?

yup, i prefer radials, however they couldent considder phasing(no puns intended) out the ring circuit at a worse time, they were brough in in copper shortages and they will be going out in one
