Are normal plasticky surface mounted sockets and back boxes (pattresses) OK for inside a garage?

Thanks

i think in a garage its more important to protect the cable supplying the socket, i always use conduit in garages for the drops

Whats wrong with plastic? Especially if the garage is damp. I think every installation is unique, some garages might need to be metal because of the possibility of damage, others would better suit plastic.

Thats my take on it      Smiley

The NIC always look for conduit/metal clad outlets.  It is a more arduous installation and requires a little extra protection.  For the cost difference, why wouldn't you?

To be honest, I have seen plenty of installs both new and old with moulded accessories, but ideally, they should be metal clad.  (notice I said ideally in both posts Wink )

"Arduous".......Not quite sure thats the right word Undecided

pvc boxes with pvc conduit drops or metalclad accessories with pvc conduit boxes would be fine

tho I have seen plenty of garages with surface clipped T&E and plastic accessories that have lasted fine for years.
