Damp in new built extension
Apr 12th, 2010, 11:52am

Hi there,

I had a ground floor single story extension built at the back of my flat, completed October 2008.

Unfortunately the walls either side of some bi-folding aluminum doors have show signs of damp, possibly rising up? Now other areas of the extension have shown patches of damp.

The builder told me that he laid a DPM and that it could be part of the drying out process. I am not too sure now as other areas are starting to be effected and he is becoming more reluctant to get involved.

I contact Rentokil but I was told that they only get involved with old properties, thirty years plus.

Can anyone please advise me on what to do?

thanks

Hi big all

No. The outside level is almost flush with the inside, separated by a drain gully, the bi-folding doors ledge and the doors. I've attached some (bad) drawings.
